With the second largest number of Councillors and therefore the Main Opposition, many of the nominations for posts of responsibility by the Conservatives at the full Council have been rejected by an “ unofficial coalition” between the Separatist SNP and the Socialist Labour Party. The Conservatives failed to gain any Posts of Responsibility in the new Council. So much for the SNP Leader informing the Press that she was looking forward to being in a “collegiate” Council. “Collegiate “ - they neither know the meaning nor the practice !!
Group Leader Tom Marshall commented,
“Despite seeking talks with Labour to come to a working arrangement it has become apparent that they would rather support the SNP and on each decision voted to support their nominations. So it looks like “Vote Labour get SNP”
Or “vote red get yellow”
"We were the only Party to gain Councillors in every Ward in North Ayrshire and with over 10,000 people giving us their First Preference vote. So we will assume the mantle of the real opposition and hold the SNP to account."
Deputy Group Leader Todd Ferguson said,
“George Orwell once said that ‘Nationalism is inseparable from the desire for more power’ and anyone who was watching the first statutory council meeting in North Ayrshire would have witnessed that in spades as the SNP scrambled around sweeping up all of the leading council roles faster than a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
“What might have surprised many voters is the way in which they were propped up by their lapdogs on the Labour benches. It is clear that Labour in North Ayrshire has totally abandoned any pretence of being a party that is willing to stand up against the insidious nationalist movement and back the United Kingdom. If only they had been as bold as their colleagues in South Lanarkshire and accepted our offers of a pro-U.K. administration.
“Thankfully, many voters have already woken up to this revelation which is why Labour crashed to third place in the recent elections and given the rapidity they proposed and seconded each other I’m confident that many more will abandon them now. After all, If you still vote red then you’ll simply get more yellow.”
