The 2017 Local Elections saw the Scottish Conservatives achieve a fantastic result across the country and increase their representation in North Ayrshire Council by 6, taking us to 7 councillors - councillors who will put your local issues first, not another independence referendum.
The Local Election result built on our strong showing in the Scottish Parliamentary election for 2016, which saw the Scottish Conservatives become the official opposition party with 31 MSPs. Jamie Greene, who stood for Cunninghame North in North Ayrshire, was successfully elected as an MSP for the West Scotland Region and increased our vote share in the constituency by 10.9%, beating Labour into 2nd place.
This couldn't have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our local activists, to whom we owe a huge 'Thank You'. We now look to the UK General Election on the 8th June 2017, where only the Scottish Conservative candidate can offer real opposition to the SNP. More enthusiastic and dedicated activists will ensure we can continue to build on our gains. We can never have too much help, and our campaign days have seen a very encouraging increase in volunteers in recent weeks. So if you can give even a few hours of your time between now and 8th June, we'd really appreciate a hand leafleting, canvassing or just talking to voters - if it's your first time campaigning, don't worry, we'll help you along! Just drop us an email or give us a call for more details on meeting times/locations. We hope to see you soon!
