Jamie met students from Auchenharvie Academy in the Scottish Parliament to talk about the roles of MSPs and for a question and answer session.
He was joined by MSPs Ruth Maguire (Cunninghame South) and Ross Greer (West Scotland Region).
Jamie noted how impressed he was with the students’ engagement in issues surrounding police and security and said that he would be delighted to welcome Auchenharvie Academy back to the Scottish Parliament or visit them in Stevenston in the near future.
Jamie Greene MSP commented:
“What struck me was how engaged these students were on some of the more pressing issues facing Scotland today, particularly security and policing. It was certainly surprising to hear 15 and 16-year olds ask about whether or not we should have more armed police on our streets or if we should be extending or reducing prison sentences.
“It’s always welcome to see young people engaged with political issues and I’m proud of the culture we have of involving our youth in politics.
“I’d gladly welcome Auchenharvie Academy back to Holyrood any time for a follow up chat in the near future.”
