A new dossier released by the Scottish Conservatives has revealed massive departmental waste since the SNP came to power.
The dossier, entitled "Mackay's Missing Millions", reveals that the cost of over-budget government projects and departmental waste since the SNP came to power now runs to £431.5 million - more than the entire cost of the Scottish Parliament building.
When including the public sector, cost over-runs in Scotland (such as rail and NHS projects) the figure is £947.7 million.
This comes on a week where the SNP is refusing to back a tax cut for middle earners (supported by even hard-left Jeremy Corbyn) that others in the UK enjoy. It means Scotland will now become the highest taxed party of the UK, with higher income tax rates and higher business rates than those south of the border.
West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene commented: “The SNP have claimed it can’t afford to give Scots the same tax break as others in the UK because there isn’t enough money yet now we see that the SNP have accumulated nearly £1 billion of waste.”
“The waste is more than the entire cost of the Scottish Parliament building. This dossier shows that hundreds of millions of pounds have been frittered away on cost overruns and IT projects.”
“The SNP needs to sort this mess out a give a break to hardworking taxpayers and local firms right across Scotland.”
