Toni Dawson lives in Largs and owns and operates the popular Sugar and Spice shop in Main Street as well as other local retail and leisure businesses. She is active in the town's business community being Vice Chairman of the Business Improvement District (BID) organisation and recently welcomed the BID's proposal for a park and ride scheme at Kelburn to alleviate the town's parking problems.
Toni was selected as the Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate by local representatives of the North Ayrshire and Arran Conservative and Unionist Association who are supporting her campaign 100% and wish her success in the by-election.Toni says “I am not a career politician and do not want to be elected for the sake of it. I genuinely believe I have what it takes to represent you and to be an effective councillor for our area. If you elect me then I will be a tireless worker on your behalf.”
This is an important by-election since the Council is currently balanced on 11 Labour and 11 SNP councillors. A Conservative gain would deprive the SNP of being the largest group on the Council which they have been since the 2012 Council elections.
