North Ayrshire Conservatives led by Councillor Tom Marshall and Cllr Todd Ferguson have over the last few years been in discussion with the UK government over direct funding to the Council. This has come directly from the U.K.’s leveling up fund.
We have been talking to the Secretary of State Alister Jack and his predecessor and various other Scottish office ministers regarding the possibility of funding for the upgrade of the B714 across North Ayrshire from Dalry to Saltcoats. This would improve the road links to the central motorway network and so encourage new industry and business to locate to the area. This should bring new job opportunities for all in the area.
We are glad that our talks have resulted in the Council being awarded £23.5 million to upgrade this road to trunk road network standards
The Council has been told to reapply for other funding projects and we will use our contact with the UK government to promote these further requests and enable more benefits to come directly to the Council and this area from the UK without having to go through the Scottish Government.
