West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene has written to North Ayrshire Council and the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Shona Robison, asking for clarity on levels of funding for North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership.
Mr Greene was recently contacted by volunteers at Action on Hearing Loss Scotland who want the North Ayrshire Council to provide assurances for their 2017/18 funding.
Mr Greene commented: “Groups such as Action on Hearing Loss Scotland (AHLS) provide an absolutely vital service to those suffering from hearing conditions across the country. Having been aware of some of the great work AHLS undertake on a daily basis I have urged North Ayrshire Council to give some assurances over the state of funding for the coming financial year.”
“It’s essential that if we want to ensure that AHLS and similar groups are able to properly plan delivery of their services in the long-term then we need to be clear with them what their funding situation is. There are 477 people in North Ayrshire recorded as using British Sign Language, so vital services like these help ensure everyone is able to participate full yin an inclusive society.”
