Jamie Greene, our candidate for Cunninghame North, has been successfully elected as a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the West Scotland region. Maurice Golden and Maurice Corry join Jamie as Ruth Davidson's team of MSPs for West Scotland. Jackson Carlaw, previously a West Scotland MSP, gained his Eastwood constituency from Labour.
Jamie increased the Scottish Conservative vote share by 10.9% in Cunninghame North constituency to gain 2nd place from Labour, while in Cunninghame South Billy McClure increased the Scottish Conservative vote by 6.9%.
The Scottish Conservatives are now the official opposition at Holyrood in what turned out to be an incredible night for Ruth Davidson and her team. The Constituency vote across Scotland was up 8.1% and the Regional vote by an incredible 10.6% to overtake Labour into second position. There are now 31 Scottish Conservative MSPs, an increase of 16.
Ruth Davidson, herself successfully winning her Edinburgh Central constituency from the SNP, and her team of of MSPs will now hold true to their promise to the people of Scotland - to be an effective opposition to the minority SNP administration and ensure the nation is not dragged down the route of another independence referendum.
