Lord Michael Dobbs, the author of House of Cards and other novels, led a team of activists out on the streets recently to support the Referendum NO campaign. He was joined by a number of Ayrshire Conservatives including local North Ayrshire Chairman, Richard Wilkinson. Michael Dobbs who was made a life peer on 18th December 2010 is a long term supporter of the Party and was on a campaign tour of Scotland.
Michael Dobbs, who served as an advisor to Margaret Thatcher when she was in opposition, acted as a speechwriter and Chief of Staff for the Conservative Party. He was made Deputy Chairman of the Party under Sir John Major. However, Lord Dobbs is also known for his writing work, authoring the House of Cards trilogy and acts as an Executive Producer on the American version of the TV series.
Michael feels very passionately about the Union and was more than happy to lend his support.
On the day, 70% of respondents were planning to vote "NO" with 25% backing "YES" and 5% undecided.
