The Conservative and Unionist Group on North Ayrshire Council warmly welcome the decision of the UK Government to contribute £100m to the Ayrshire Growth Deal.
The aspiration is to have £340m available over the 15 year project. So we hope that the Scottish Government and the three Ayrshire Councils will provide the balance of the funding.
As we have repeatedly said it is important that the the Ayrshire Growth Deal is targeted at economic growth that results in the provision of employment opportunities. Development of skills programmes, improved digital connectivity and energy projects are particularly welcome.
